Willetton SHS’s Academic Extension Program is a school-based offering designed to meet the specific needs of our students in Years 8-10. Separate and distinct from the Gifted and Talented program, Academic Extension classes provide highly able and top performing students a challenging and engaging learning environment, with a focus on preparing them for future academic pathways.
WSHS’s model, offered on a subject-specific basis across the learning areas of English, Languages, Mathematics and Science, is tailored to suit both the unique demands and nuances of each learning area and the needs and strengths of our students. This means that each learning area offering Academic Extension classes selects students with outstanding ability in that specific subject, ensuring a high standard in each class and a unique approach that results in excellent outcomes for students, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
An extension program in Visual Art is offered from Year 8 – 10.
