We offer a full array of senior school courses for university bound students and certification courses for those seeking an alternative pathway to further study or work. Our lower school program provides a range of elective offerings to supplement the compulsory physical education and health courses linked to the Western Australian Curriculum.
Lifecare is a compulsory course for all Year 11 students. It involves a mix of active and passive pursuits and has emphasis on both participation and recreation to help offset the stress of senior school and add to the life skills of students once they leave school. Activities have included visits to senior villages, links with Castlereagh School and their students, lawn bowls, stretching groups, boxing, indoor and outdoor sports and talks and presentations from various agencies on related current health practices and topics.
In addition to these courses, we are dedicated to providing opportunities outside the classroom. Traditionally, the school participates in 12 annual carnivals connected to all year groups across swimming, athletics, and nominated sports. The learning area also participates in up to 18 sports in extracurricular School Sport WA competitions. Across all years and genders these equate to over 50 teams competing annually.
The sports program also hosts the leading specialist basketball program within WA. This highly successful and respected program has produced several current state and national based players and coaches within basketball.
Involvement in the Health and Physical Education program not only offers students immediate rewards but also exposes them to real lifestyle options and life skills that they can carry with them into their adult lives.
